037793 Campus Based Schema 1.0b-FWS Earnings Reporting Update

This is the main release for the Campus Based Schema 1.0b-FWS Earnings Reporting Update.

July 25, 2024 - The following software update has been released and is available to customers to be installed: SU037793-1805*25

FAFSA schools will be required to report 2023 calendar year Federal Work Study (FWS) earnings by student to COD using the new 1.0b campus-based schema. This release will provide institutions with the ability to create the work file of students to view/maintain, and report to COD as well as import the responses. Also, this release will provide updates to help support the reporting of the FISAP report.

Implementation Instructions:

If you have created your work file for 2023 prior to installing this software update, we recommend running PFWS with the delete option to remove the records, then re-run PFWS to build a new work file.

Institutions with multiple Attended Schools in their FWS work file should send their files using a saved list or additional selection criteria to send each school separately.

Note: Use the field FAFW.ATTENDING.CAMPUS equal to the specified Attended School value in your selection criteria.

Several items were addressed as part of this software update:

  • PD0010624 FA: Address information For Campus Based Work Study is too long for Colleague to import

  • PD0015510 Return of Title IV (ROFC) for Pell does not work for 2024

  • PD0010393 PFWS not adding students and CBDE not finding citizenship for students who have FWS awards with an asterisk action status

  • PD0015515 SAI Correction Calculation issue for students whose parents have a tax return filing status entered manually

  • PD0010707 DOEI is unable to link CB (FWS) record when the last name has an apostrophe

  • PD0015701 The PELL (ESOA) Electronic Statement of Account in Colleague for 24-25 is missing

  • PD0014083 NAWC missing 'X' in the box next to 'View FAFSA Comment Codes' when coded exist
