How to Install Adobe Acrobat Pro and Creative Cloud Licenses

The University owns a limited number of licenses for Adobe. These licenses are considered named and must be tied to an individual user. This article describes how to request a license and what to do after the license has been assigned.

Step-by-step guide

  1. You will need to be granted a license through your Westminster email address. You can get one by submitting a Get IS Help request through the Help Desk Portal.

  2. If you are raising this request on behalf of someone else, you can enter in their name in the top bar that says “Raise this request on behalf of”. Otherwise, just leave it in your own name.

  3. In the summary, enter the name of the software you need. Our Adobe Acrobat Pro licenses come with the full Creative Cloud suite, so you will have the ability to edit PDF’s along with the rest of the apps including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.

  4. In the larger box that says “Description”, explain the reason that you need this software to complete your job effectively and any other relevant details.

  5. When you are ready, click the purple “Create” button. This will send your request into our queue to be fulfilled as soon as we are able. You will receive email notifications as updates are made to your ticket.

  6. When the request has been fulfilled, you will get a notification that your ticket has been resolved. There will also be a comment letting you know that you can call the Help Desk at 801.832.2023 when you are ready to install the software. You will need one of the Help Desk employees to be present so that we can enter in the administrator password needed to install software.

  7. You will also receive an email from Adobe once you have been granted a license. An employee will likely be with you to walk you through the installation steps. You will first click on the “Get started” button contained in the email from Adobe. If you have never signed into Adobe before with your Westminster email, this will take you to a page where you will create a password. Otherwise, it will just have you sign in. Many people only use their Adobe password once, so you might need to use the “forgot password” option to recover your Adobe password.

  8. A Help Desk employee will download the Creative Cloud desktop app for you. From that app, you will be able to install and update any of the Creative Cloud apps on your own without needing the administrator password, including Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  9. If you ever are signed out of Adobe and prompted to login, you will need to login again using your full Westminster email address and your Adobe password before you can continue using the full functionality of the applications.

Adobe acrobat pro and the creative cloud licenses are distributed differently, so please be specified on your request.
