Printing from a University-Owned Computer

Services available:
- Desktop computer
- Laptop computer
- Several printers located in each building on campus (at least one networked printer per floor, excluding residential halls)
What kind of support can I receive regarding these services?
- Ensuring that the building's available printers are working properly including:
- Printers are online
- Print jobs successfully print
- Printers are clear of paper jams
- Printers have sufficient ink
- Printers are overall operational
- Printers are added to the computer
- Paper for each printer is supplied by the department
Basic troubleshooting?
- Add printers to the computer: PC instructions and Mac Instructions
- Reseat the ethernet cable while restarting the printer
- Clear any paper jams
- Replace ink
- Call Dex using the printer ID number to request service or ink
- Install Papercut
- On Mac, make sure to authenticate when receiving "Hold for Authentication" message on the first print job
- Install any needed printer drivers
- Restart the print spooler
- If a student, ensure they have enough print credits
- Review knowledge-based (KB) articles provided by IS
