How to Record a Video in Studio

Screen Capture:

Log into Canvas using your Westminster email address and password. Click on the Studio tab on the left.
Click the Record button at the top right of the page.
Select Screen Capture.
The page will then load for about 10-20 seconds, then prompt you to download the software you need. Click Download.
Open up the download and run the installer. If you are using a University-owned desktop computer and need the administrative password, please call x2023 so that we can send someone over.
Once the installer has finished, repeat steps 2 and 3 by clicking Record and Screen Capture. You will then be prompted to open the screen recording software. Click Open Screen Recorder Launcher.
The screen capture software will open up with a border and small menu box, shown in the photo below. If you allow use of your microphone when prompted, you can also record your voice while you record your screen. You can choose to record just your screen, your webcam, or both. Click the red Rec icon at the bottom left corner of the frame to start recording.
To pause the recording, click the pause button. Click the Rec button to start recording again, or click the Done button to finish the recording.
Next, name your video, add an optional description, then click Upload.
Once the video has finished uploading, you will see a messaged at the top of the screen that says Uploaded: Title, or you can click Back to recordings to find the video there. The video will also be automatically uploaded to your Studio library.

Webcam Capture:

Click the Record button at the top right of the page.
Select Webcam Capture. If prompted, allow access to your webcam and microphone.
From here, you can select which microphone and webcam to use by select the Mic button and Webcam button.
Click Start Recording to start the recording.
Click Finish to end the recording, or Start Over if you need to restart.
When you are done, name your recording and click Save. The video will automatically be uploaded to your Studio library.
