How to Add and Attach Outcomes to Your Canvas Courses and Assignments (School of Business)
These instructions specifically pertain to the School of Business, but you can follow these same steps to add other University level Outcomes to your Canvas courses.
Add Outcomes to Your Course
While in your Canvas course, click the Outcomes button on the lefthand navigation menu.
Click the Find button.
Click the dropdown for Account Standards, then Westminster University, then School of Business.
Open up the dropdown for your program.
5. You can choose to click Add All Outcomes, or you can click the + Add button next to only the outcomes you’d like to add to your course. When you have added all the outcomes you need, click Done.
You will then see all of the outcomes loaded directly into your course. You will need to do this for all courses that you would like to add outcomes to.
Attach Outcomes to Assignments
Go to the assignment you would like to attach an outcome to and click the + Rubric button.
Click the Find Outcome button.
Expand the folders until you see the list of available outcomes and select the one you want. You also have the option to enable the option to use the outcome for scoring. When you have the setting configured the way you want, click Import.
You can use an existing rubric using the Find a Rubric option at the top right, or you can create a new rubric. The outcome itself can be the rubric if you delete the first row that says “Description of criterion”. If you are creating a new rubric, change the Title to something appropriate rather than “Some Rubric”.
You can configure the settings at the bottom the way you’d like, although we highly recommend leaving the “Don’t post Outcomes results to Learning Mastery Gradebook” unchecked.
You will need to repeat this process for all assignments that need outcomes attached to them.
